A Little About the Owner

Dr. Damon Noonan, D.C. is a Brick Township native graduating Brick Memorial High School in Brick NJ.

After High School, Dr. Noonan went on to received his undergraduate and a Bachelor of Science degree a West Virginia University. Upon completion at West Virginia University, Dr. Noonan received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer Chiropractic. Dr. Noonan holds a license as a Chiropractic Physician in the state of New Jersey

Before Dr. Noonan new he was going to be a Chiropractor, he spent his younger years as the starting goalie for Brick Memorial High School for all 4 years of his High School career. Dr. Noonan also played Goalie for the Toms River Blackhawks and Brick Hockey clubs.

Dr. Damon P. Noonan, D.C and his wife Danielle who is a high school French teacher enjoy walking their Australian cattle dog named Scarlett at the dog parks on the beach. They enjoy the New Jersey shore beaches, surfing, paddle boarding, traveling, and exploring and trying new things.

Can We Survive?

Chef Manny Martins of Spanish Potato Grill in Brick, NJ sends a message of hope to his customers and the community.

We have invested our love and sweat into our business and we have been able to survive many challenges over the years, such as Hurricane Sandy.

Do I believe we will survive this? YES

We understand that it’s going to take time for customers to feel safe when dining at their favorite restaurants. We feel that people will not want to eat fast food for the rest of their lives. There is going to come a time when people will have a craving for fine dining. That leads me to believe that Spanish Potato Grill will survive. We feel that we are a unique dining experience. We offer Portuguese and Spanish cuisine and I think people will look forward to my Steaks, seafood dishes and Paella.

It’s all about our government and when they think it’s safe to dine in. We have already begun to prepare for dine-in customers. We have eliminated tables in our dinning room and brought our seating capacity down to 50%. From our staff to our customers, safety will be our #1 focus at SPG.

I want you to feel that you can dine in our restaurant safely with minimum risk. We are bringing all of our years of experience and knowledge to ensure the safety of our customers.

I can’t wait to open the doors of Spanish Potato Grill and treat our customers to a fine dining experience. And when we do, I will make it my business to provide a safe and enjoyable experience with the following:

Lower dining capacity to 50%
We will have disposable paper menus
Our menu will change every few weeks
We will keep traditional dishes such as, Paella, Mariscada and offer new dishes not currently on the menu
And we will continue to offer our pick-up platters that have become popular since the shutdown.

I know this has hit so many people. I feel for all of us, and not everyone will be able to spend $40 or $60 on dinner. So I am going to create a menu to make our food affordable to almost everyone. Because if we are going to survive, we are going to have to band together and do this together.

I’ve managed to cook all these years for one reason only — for the love I have for the kitchen…cooking… creating… and most of all, the happiness and smiles of my guests. Thats how I managed to stay in business so long… Not for the paycheck, but for the love of it.

I want to thank every single one of our supporters. For supporting us at the old location on Matoloking Rd., the new location and especially the support we’ve received during the pandemic.

10 Fun things to do if you’re stuck home

As if being stuck in the house for weeks wasn’t bad enough, some senior citizens are unfortunately living alone. So we hope you’re healthy and in good spirits and we have provided a list of ideas to help make this time spent home a little nicer.

Get a Netflix FREE Trial – If you don’t already have Netflix you can get a FREE trial account for 30 days! So even if you don’t keep it, you’ll have access to thousands of movies and shows to make the quarantine easier. Just go to the app store on your phone, search for Netflix and off you go!
Read a book – It may sound obvious but reading a book can be very relaxing and it gives you an opportunity to escape. More than likely you have a book on the shelf that you’ve been planning to read but it never seems to happen. Commit to reading one chapter and see how you feel once you finish. You may be surprised.
Bring back an old hobby – Was there a time you built model ships? Or maybe you used to knit… This would be a good time to reignite an old hobby. It will be nostalgic and you’ll already know how to begin.
Start a workout routine – You can get a great workout right from your house. Even if you don’t have equipment, you can still get full body workout. Go on youtube and search for, “Workouts at home”.
Join Facebook – If you haven’t already joined Facebook, now would be a great to do it. You would be able to catch up with old friends.
Go outside – Many adult communities in our area are a great place to go for a walk or ride a bike. Just be sure to keep at least six feet distance from other people.
Start a Garden – You can easily order all of your supplies online. This will provide a nice project that will last for months and provide fresh produce as well!
Call friends or family – Now is a great time to catch up with loved ones. Life has slowed down for everyone so people are more likely to spend time chatting.
Start a diary – We are living in historical times. Writing down our thoughts while events unfold gives us a chance to vent and we can also revisit these thoughts in years to come.
Stay positive – This may be the best thing you can give yourself. Life truly is what you make it. So if at all possible, try to maintain a positive attitude and you’ll always feel better.

When the lockdown first began, Chef Manny Martins tried to think of a way that he could still serve his loyal customer base in a safe and cost effective way. So he developed his, “SPG Platter”. What is an SPG Platter you ask? It’s a family size platter packed with SPG goodness all for just 16 bucks.

Menu items change daily so please call for menu options or check Facebook or instagram.

How to order

All you have to do, is call the restaurant, place your order, pay with a credit card over the phone and we will bring the food out to your car! It’s that easy.

Do you remember the Victory Garden?

The Victory Garden began during the first world war. At that time, posters in cities across the country advocated that civilians should, “Sow the seeds of victory”. This was a creative solution to address the fact that most of our farmers and transportation companies where dedicated to supplying food to the service members overseas. The idea was simple, Americans were asked to plant a garden to help with the nations food shortage. You could say that the victory garden was moderately successful during the first World War with numbers of local gardens reaching over 3 million plots just about anywhere American could fit them, backyards, front yards, flower pots, roof tops, you name it. By the time America got dragged into World War 2, the victory garden would resurge and reach an all time high!

As World War 2 broke out, commercial crops were being sent overseas and once again ordinary Americans were asked to provide their families with homegrown fruits and vegetables. With the introduction of food rationing in the Spring of 1942, you could find gardens in some form all across America with Elenor Roosevelt even planting a victory garden on the White House lawn.

Some of the most popular produce grown included

cabbage
carrots
kale
lettuce
kohlrabi
peas
tomatoes
turnips
squash
Swiss chard
Beans
Beets

Millions of government pamphlets were sent to citizens with in-depth instructions on how to develop and maintain a successful garden. Throughout both World Wars, the victory garden was a giant success! Americans were happy to do their part to support the country in any way that they could. As a result of their patriotism, by 1942 Americans had planted roughly 15 million victory gardens and by 1944 an estimated 20 million gardens were producing 8 million tons of food which represented 40 percent of all fresh fruits and vegetables consumed in the USA!
